Since 1976, Archuleta has devoted his work to rendering beautifully executed landscapes, particularly forest scenes. He is facinated by nature and its myraid mysteries: the viewer senses that upon contemplating his paintings -a small deer is set amidst an immense forest, revealing the contrast between both scale and the animal's fragility with that of the power and timelessness of the trees.
